Save a repeatable workflow as a Skill

Create a project Skill with clear inputs, steps, and completion criteria, then invoke and maintain it.

Purpose#

Save repeated steps as a Skill so you can invoke the workflow without explaining it again.

Before you start#

Complete the task once. Project Skills live in .claude/skills/name/SKILL.md; personal Skills live in ~/.claude/skills/name/SKILL.md. Start with project scope.

First task#

  1. Open Plugins → Skills from the left sidebar and choose your project in the scope selector.
  2. Choose Add → Create skill. Onevium opens a new conversation with Skill Creator ready in the composer; choose a project first if prompted. Add the name check-doc-links, its project scope, and the instructions below, then send. The prepared draft does not run by itself. You can also use @Skill in an existing project conversation.

Define its purpose and steps:

  1. After creation, return to Plugins → Skills, refresh, and open check-doc-links under the intended project. Check its name, source, and instructions.
  2. Click Use skill in its details. Onevium opens a new conversation for the selected/current project; if it asks for a project, choose the intended one and continue.
  3. The composer contains a reference to that specific Skill file. Add the practice directory and task requirements, review the project, then send. Opening the conversation does not send the message automatically.

In an existing conversation, you can still select /check-doc-links from the command menu and add the task’s input before sending.

Confirm success#

Test a known broken link and a valid link. Confirm that the report finds the defect without a false positive. A created file does not prove the Skill loaded; inspect actual execution.

Common problems#

  • Skill missing from the list: check the selected project and source, then refresh. In Scope settings, also check that Skills and native Claude Skills are allowed for the intended scope.
  • Use skill has not started work: the new conversation contains an editable draft; add your request and send it. If no project is available, open a project first.
  • Missing command: check the directory, filename, and enabled state.
  • Not manually invocable: user-invocable: false means model-only invocation.
  • Unknown plugin command: use the complete namespace shown by the interface.
